It is up to the individual participant and participant’s employer to ensure training certificates are up-to-date and current. Replacement certificates or cards if lost, are issued by WorkSafeBC and fees may apply.

Failure to complete Course Requirements or Exam

To promote self-directed learning and accountability, all participants must complete all course requirements as outlined in the course syllabus to receive a certificate of completion. No refund will be granted if the participant fails to complete all course requirements.

If the participant does not attempt any of the course activities or withdraws from the course more than 7 business days after registering for a course, no refund will be made.

The Asbestos Training Institute does not allow extensions of deadlines for course requirement completion; it is the responsibility of participants, when registering for a course, to be fully aware of their ability to meet course expectations and deadlines.

If you are unable to complete the course due to extenuating circumstances, i.e medical leave or family emergency, please contact your instructor to discuss the possibility of joining a future course date.

No Shows: A participant who registers for a training course but does not attend the training course and/or engages with the course content.

Complaints

Complaints will be assessed in a timely manner by Management to determine their validity. Validated complaints shall be handled in a professional and confidential manner by the instructor, manager or owner depending on the nature of the matter. Customers shall be informed when the resolution has been determined for the problem identified. Customer information, nature of the complaint, corrective or preventive action implements, and changes resulting from the action shall be documented on a Record of Complaint form and logged internally.

Appeals

In all cases of disagreements between instructional staff and participants, the preferred course of action is for the participant to raise the concern directly with the instructor who is obligated to listen to the concern and provide a timely, respectful response. If this response is not acceptable to the student, then the process described below should be followed. Appeals on grading the exam are not handled by the training provider. This would be directly with WorkSafeBC Asbestos Certification Program certification@worksafebc.com.
